(Macau).- The new head of the Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau (DICJ), Adriano Marques Ho, has pledged to serve with integrity and enhance the use of technology in the casino regulator’s daily work, as he took office as the gaming watchdog Director.

Secretary for Economy and Finance Lei Wai Nong, who presided over Ho’s swearing-in ceremony which took place yesterday (June 10), said that the Macau Government is focused on the preliminary work to pave the way for the new gaming concessions public tender.
A consultation document is set to be released in due time, Lei added, while stressing the need to improve gaming laws and regulations.
Analysts told Macau News Agency (MNA) that Adriano Ho will face a number of tasks and challenges as gaming regulator head, including dealing with a gaming sector hailing from the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, controlling the local junket sector, revamping the local gaming law in areas such as satellite casinos and slot machine parlours and preparing the 2022 gaming concession tender.
Lei praised Adriano Ho’s profile as someone with a strong background and skills, as he was head of the Judiciary Police’s (PJ) gaming-related and economic crimes investigation unit before becoming one of the top advisors to Secretary for Security Wong Sio Chak in 2014.
Adriano Marques Ho replaces Paulo Martins Chan who requested to step down from his position as DICJ Director so that he could return to the Public Prosecutions Office.
